Orrell & District Quiz League

We sadly have to report the death of Alan Pugh of Bryn PLC.  Alan died on Monday 22nd October and his funeral will take place at Wigan Crematorium at 3pm on Thursday 1st November.

Another reminder that this annual end of season event will take places as last year at Orrell Red Triangle Cricket Club,Winstanley Road, Orrell, WN5 7XF, on Friday 9th November starting at 8.30pm sharp. For those unfamiliar with the venue, here are some directions for those without satnav. The Cricket Club can be found by turning up the track at the side of the YMCA at the bottom of Winstanley Road opposite Hewitt Business Park. Some might be relieved to know I will not be setting the questions this year - I am handing over the responsibility to the very capable hands of Paul McAteer.

Anyone who participated in the games this season, is eligible to enter. Please come along to what should be an enjoyable evening

Congratulations to Bryn Labour Club (20) who overcame Talbot Colts (8) 48-41 in the Handicap Cup Final. In the Plate Final, UCC Blues (1) emerged victorious over Millstone (0)< by 48-41. Thanks to all those who attended, played or officiated and helped to make it an enjoyable evening. 

A reminder that the Presentation Evening and Pairs Competition will take place at Orrell Cricket Club on Friday 9th November, I will post directions to the venue in a few days.

The Cup and Plate finals will be held at the Delph Tavern next Tuesday (11th September). The Plate final will between UCC Blues and Millstone and will commence at 8.30 prompt.

The Cup final will follow after and will be between Bryn Labour Club and Talbot Colts. Please come along to what should be an enjoyable evening.

New handicaps, based on the 18 games of the league season, have been calculated and approved by the league committee and will apply for the upcoming cup competition.

They are as follows :-

Congratulations to Millstone who have won this year's league competition, beating UCC Blues by one point.

UCC Blues did, however, win the handicap competition with a three point margin over Robin Hood and Delph.

On Sunday the draw was made for the Cup and Plate competitions to be played from 14th August until the final on 11th September. The games will be played as a handicap competition. New handicaps will be used based on the 18 matches of the current season. The draw is as follows:-
